Online Opinion: research by online reservation specialists Livebookings was the starting point for a debate

01 February 2010

Research and a roundtable discussion conducted by Livebookings at the end of 2009, raised important questions about a series of issues affecting the restaurant industry; from the recession to tipping, booking online and dealing with online reviews.

"The research also looked at how we are booking meals out, with 16% of consumers preferring the convenience of the internet, compared to 45% who prefer to speak to someone over the phone. The implication is therefore that if your restaurant doesn't take online bookings you could be ignoring 16% of your potential customer base."
